A fire broke out in a six-story building in the Geula section of Yerushalayim late Thursday afternoon.

Three firefighting units were dispatched to the scene, and more were on the way to site at Avraham Talmud 17. As of 7:45 p.m., the fire had been brought under control.

It was reported that the roof had collapsed. The fire was on the fourth floor, and firefighters worked their way up from the lower floors, checking for anyone who might be trapped.

An elderly woman was helped out of the building and given first aid.

At last report, they were searching for a 4-year-old girl who might have been trapped near the roof.

The possibility that additional people might be trapped in the building has not yet been ruled out, as rescue personnel are still trying to ascertain whether anyone remained in the burning structure, according to Shlomi Cohen, a spokesman for the Yerushalayim district of the fire department.
