National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi disclosed in an interview on Motzoei Shabbos with Channel 12 that the IDF came very close to apprehending Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Hanegbi emphasized that Sinwar’s time is running out, though patience is required. Drawing a parallel to the decade-long hunt for Osama bin Laden, he expressed confidence that Sinwar’s fate is sealed and his escape routes limited.

“He moves from tunnel to tunnel. We were near him, some say extremely close. We missed him by mere days. He won’t survive this confrontation; his destiny is sealed,” Hanegbi asserted.

Previous reports from The Wall Street Journal suggested that Sinwar believed he had already secured a victory, even if he doesn’t survive. He is counting on time being on his side, expecting increased international pressure on Israel to end the Gaza conflict as it continues.
