Islamic Jihad Bomb Plot Thwarted
By Yoni Weiss
Israeli security forces have thwarted a bomb plot orchestrated by a Palestinian terror cell affiliated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) headquarters in Lebanon. The cell was planning attacks against soldiers in the Shomron, as announced by the Shin Bet on Thursday.
Indictments were filed against three individuals from the village of Ya’bad near Jenin in the Shomron military court on Thursday. Arrested in January were Ahmed Taleb Khaled Abu Bakr, 29, Ibrahim Abdel Rahim Jaber Abu Bakr, 29, both senior figures of Islamic Jihad in Ya’bad, and 18-year-old Abada Mansour Muhammad Abu Bakr.
During the investigation, the Shin Bet discovered that Ahmed and Ibrahim had clandestine connections with Islamic Jihad through its Lebanese headquarters, receiving funds and cryptocurrency. They also experimented with remotely activatable explosive charges. Abada was recruited by Ibrahim to assist in producing these charges.
Since Oct. 7, approximately 3,850 Palestinian terror suspects have been arrested in Yehudah and Shomron, with around 1,650 associated with the Hamas.
