The IDF confirmed Friday morning that an Israeli civilian contracted by the military was killed a Hezbollah anti-tank missile strike near the Mount Dov area on the border with Lebanon.

The victim, identified as Sharif Suad, was from the Bedouin town of Sallama near Karmiel. Some sources mentioned his residence as Ras al-Ein, an adjacent Arab town.

Suad was engaged in “infrastructure activity” for the IDF within the Mount Dov vicinity when the missile attack occurred, the IDF said. This operation was part of the ongoing efforts by the IDF to fortify its defenses along the border.

According to the Hezbollah terror group, they targeted two IDF vehicles in the area shortly before midnight. Suad’s demise was swiftly declared following the impact of one of the two anti-tank missiles, the IDF reported. Israeli artillery shelling promptly targeted the origin of the missile fire in response.

Lebanese media shared footage capturing an explosion on the mountainside amidst the exchange of fire.
