An officer in police’s Yamam counter-terrorism unit was seriously wounded while five Palestinian terrorists were killed during a raid in the Palestinian town of Dayr al-Ghusun, authorities said.

According to a joint statement by the IDF and police, the operation was conducted to dismantle a terrorist cell operating in the region of Tulkarem.

The statement outlined that following a 12-hour-long exchange of gunfire, five members of the cell, barricaded within a building, were killed.

Upon facing resistance from the structure, troops resorted to employing the “pressure cooker” tactic, intensifying the barrage of fire to compel the suspects to surrender.

The IDF deployed armored bulldozers to demolish a section of the building, while shoulder-launched missiles were fired, and two airstrikes were carried out by a Hermes 450 drone.

Additionally, the IDF confirmed the confiscation of several weapons during the operation.

The wounded police officer was rushed to Beilinson Medical Center in Petach Tikva, where medical authorities described his condition as “very serious,” with efforts underway to save his life.

The Palestinian Authority’s health ministry identified four of the killed terrorists as Tamer Faqha, 32, Alaa Shreiteh, 45, Asal Badran, 42, and Adnan Samara, 40, while the fifth individual remained unidentified at the time of reporting.
