Nesiah to Meron on 7 Adar Canceled Over Hezbollah Threats

The annual mass nesiah to Meron on 7 Adar – to be marked Sunday – was canceled by the IDF’s Home Front Command on Thursday due to apprehensions regarding a potential Hezbollah attack, chalilah.

Anticipating the convergence of approximately 30,000 people on Meron to the kever of Rashbi to commemorate the yahrtzeit of Moshe Rabbeinu, a”h, the cancellation was made “based on the IDF’s evaluation of the situation, and in coordination with other relevant authorities,” stated the Home Front Command.

Mount Meron has been targeted by Hezbollah rocket fire, with an army base situated on the mountain being hit in previous attacks. The recent barrage of over 100 rockets launched by the Iran-backed group on northern Israel heightened concerns.

Due to the ongoing war, festivities on Lag BaOmer are also expected to be toned down.
