YERUSHALAYIM
Mayor Eric Adams meets with Minister Rabbi Meir Porush on Wednesday in Yerushalayim.

Minister Rabbi Meir Porush met Wednesday with the mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, who is currently visiting Israel. This encounter follows their meeting several months ago in New York and the invitation extended by Rabbi Porush for the mayor to visit Yerushalayim.

During their meeting, the mayor shared his recent experiences from his visit to various parts of the city and his interactions with diverse segments of its population. He also discussed his visit to the Toldos Avraham Yitzchak Rebbe, shlita, and expressed his delight in learning that the Rebbe had been discharged from the hospital.

In their conversation, Rabbi Porush elaborated on the core aspects of the comprehensive Eastern Yerushalayim development plan, which was approved by the government this week, under the leadership of the Yerushalayim Ministry. This program entails an investment exceeding NIS 3 billion in the Arab residents of the city. The mayor praised the government’s concern for the well-being of all residents of Yerushalayim.

Rabbi Porush presented the readiness of the Transportation Ministry, in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry, in anticipation of the travel of thousands of Breslover Chassidim for Rosh Hashanah at the resting place of Harav Nachman of Breslov, zy”a, in Uman, Ukraine. He noted that nearly 10,000 of the annual travelers are residents of New York. The minister requested the mayor’s assistance in coordinating diplomatic representatives from the United States in Ukraine and neighboring countries to facilitate the shared effort of easing the journey for the participants of the annual pilgrimage to Uman. Mayor Adams responded affirmatively, committing to discussing the matter with the relevant authorities in his country. It was agreed that the teams of both parties will maintain ongoing communication on this matter.

In summarizing the meeting, Rabbi Porush expressed, “Mayor Eric Adams of New York City, whom I met today for the third time in the past year, has demonstrated through his actions that he is a true friend of the Jewish people and of Yerushalayim. It is important that influential figures in the Western world become more acquainted with the truth about our city, which is the light of the world. Even in this meeting, I witnessed how he reveres the traditions of Israel and extends his assistance to aid many residents of his city in commemorating Rosh Hashanah at the kever of Harav Nachman of Breslov, zt”l.”
