YERUSHALAYIM – Following high-level meetings with American officials in Washington, Mossad Director David Barnea reported to Prime Minister Yair Lapid that he “emphasized” to them “that Israel will not be able to stand idly by while Iran continues to deceive the world.”

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday said that in the meetings Barnea “presented sensitive intelligence materials” concerning the actual state of Iran’s nuclear program to senior defense and security officials, including the heads of the CIA and the FBI, the National Security Advisor, the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and officials at the State Department.

The Director of the Mossad heard from his counterparts that the U.S. remains committed to the security of the State of Israel. During the meetings, the Americans reiterated that they will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon and that they will continue to act in full cooperation with Israel with regards to security issues in the Middle East. Barnea is reputedly one of the Israeli security establishment’s most aggressive opponents of the attempts to revive the Iran deal, as compared to colleagues who believe “no deal” would be worse than a return to the 2015 JCPOA.
