As the IDF conducts operations in Rafah, attention turns to Hamas activities elsewhere in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the terror group’s resurgence.

While the focus remains on Rafah, where the IDF has initiated a targeted ground operation, another scenario unfolds in a different part of Gaza, reflecting Hamas’s military resurgence and the IDF’s strategic positioning.

About a week ago, three unarmed Palestinian terrorists carrying a white flag approached an IDF position in the Netzarim Corridor, originating from Gaza City, and sought to surrender. However, suspicions arose among soldiers, leading to a confrontation. It was later discovered that the individuals were sent by Hamas to gather intelligence. Despite this, they were eventually released after interrogation.

Referred to as “the subdued ones” by the IDF, similar incidents occur weekly, primarily during daylight hours. However, at night, intruders risk being shot from a distance. Additionally, the IDF has coined the term “engines” for intact government buildings in the northern strip, which require approval from high-ranking officers for attack and may serve Hamas operatives.

The IDF has recently constructed four large outposts in the Netzarim Corridor to accommodate hundreds of soldiers from reserve brigades, including those overseeing the construction of a new port by the U.S. military. Temporary outposts have also been established across a three-kilometer-wide strip of land, with a new road facilitating access to an outpost and beach checkpoint.

The IDF’s presence aims to counteract Hamas terrorists regrouping in central Gaza, particularly in Nuseirat and Al-Bureij, where traps and explosive fields have been prepared. Despite ongoing tensions, the IDF remains vigilant, addressing threats such as sniper attacks and mortar fire while searching for tunnels near the corridor.
