Two reserve soldiers lost their lives in a Hezbollah-orchestrated drone attack targeting an army position near Metula in northern Israel on Monday afternoon, as announced by the IDF on Tuesday.

The IDF disclosed that despite attempts to intercept the explosive-laden drone, it successfully struck and claimed the lives of the soldiers.

Identified as Master Sgt. (res.) Dan Kamkagi, Hy”d, 31, from Kfar Oranim, and Master Sgt. (res.) Nachman Natan Hertz, Hy”d, 31, from Elazar, both were members of the 6551st Battalion within the 551st Brigade.

Additionally, another soldier sustained minor wounds in the attack, the IDF noted.

The Hezbollah terror group claimed responsibility for the attack.

In response, IDF fighter jets targeted a Hezbollah facility in southern Lebanon’s Srebbine, along with a rocket-launching site in Ayta ash-Shab. Artillery fire was also directed toward areas near Souaneh to neutralize potential threats, according to the IDF.

Before the fatal drone strike, approximately 30 rockets were launched from Lebanon toward the Golan Heights, the IDF confirmed.

Hezbollah attributed this rocket barrage to its retaliation for an earlier IDF strike in northeastern Lebanon.
