Tragedy: Two-Year-Old Dies After Drowning in Gush Etzion

YERUSHALAYIM — In yet another in a series of tragic drownings, a 2-year-old boy died on Sunday after being found in a private pool on Thursday.

The boy, identified as Yosef Hananel Lev, z”l, was declared dead at Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital in Yerushalayim after being rescued from the pool in small community of  Metzad, in the Gush Etzion region.

The levaya took place at 4 p.m. in Yerushalayim.

Last Wednesday, 18-year-old yeshiva bochur Mordechai Schlesinger, z”l drowned in the Kinneret during a bein hazemanim outing with his family.

On the same day, a baby boy was declared dead a day after he was rescued from a near-drowning at a pool in Tzefas. He was identified as 1-year-old child Yonatan Deutch, z”l, the son of Yehoshua Deutch, a member of the local council of Kiryat Ye’arim (Telz Stone).

According to figures released last week by the Magen David Adom ambulance service, 31 people in Israel have died so far in drowning incidents this summer, out of close to 200 who had been treated for such injuries.
