Syria’s Air Defenses Activated in Alleged Israeli Attack

CAIRO (Reuters/Hamodia) – Syrian air defenses were activated on Saturday in the country’s central region, Syrian state media reported.

“At 6:45 pm today, the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression from the north of Lebanon, targeting some points in the central region,” state media said citing a military source.

Israel’s military declined to comment on the reported air strikes in Syria.

The reported strike was carried out in daytime, a rarity for such incidents.

According to the Syrian state news site SANA, only material damage was caused.

The strikes targeted sites belonging to pro-Iranian militias and scientific research sites in Masyaf, The Jerusalem Post said, citing the The Step News Agency
