On Motzoei Shabbos, Transportation Minister Miri Regev, a member of the Security Cabinet, acknowledged that Israel had launched an attack on Iran in retaliation for the Iranian missile and drone strike on Israel last month. This admission marks a departure from Israel’s previous stance of ambiguity regarding the strike on Isfahan.

Regev stated, “We responded with a message that was received by Iran and the world, indicating that Israel is not to be underestimated.” She emphasized Israel’s success in intercepting the launches from Iran, underscoring the potential consequences had any of the projectiles reached Israeli territory.

In an interview with Channel 14, Regev addressed criticism suggesting that the government’s response to Iran’s first direct attack on Israel was too mild. She asserted that a response had indeed been delivered, emphasizing the need for responsible action to manage various fronts, with Gaza, the return of hostages, and the neutralization of Hamas being top priorities.

Following the strike on Isfahan, Iran refrained from retaliating, despite expressing willingness to do so. Tehran downplayed the damage to the airbase, likely in an attempt to avoid further escalation and the onset of a regional conflict.
