Israeli security forces have successfully intercepted an Iranian attempt to smuggle advanced weaponry into Yehudah and Shomron, the Shin Bet revealed in a statement on Monday.

The Shin Bet, in collaboration with the IDF, disclosed that the Iranian operation was orchestrated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its Quds Force, operating from Syria.

According to the statement, the smuggling attempt was uncovered and thwarted through the interrogation of Palestinian operatives who were planning attacks against Israeli targets.

The investigation particularly shed light on the recent activities of Munir Makdeh, a Palestinian residing in Lebanon, known for his affiliation with the terrorist organization Hezbollah and his connections with the IRGC.

The probe uncovered Makdeh’s role in recruiting operatives in Yehudah and Shomron to perpetrate attacks and smuggle Iranian weaponry, along with financing the recruited units.

As part of the operation, a substantial cache of advanced military equipment and weapons was seized, including two BTB15 cluster bombs, five Iranian YM-2 model anti-tank mines with fuses, four M203 grenade launchers, 15 kilograms (33 pounds) of C4 explosive, 10 kilograms (22 pounds) of Semtex, 13 anti-tank shoulder missiles, 15 RPG launchers, 16 RPG-7 rockets, 25 hand grenades, 33 M4 assault rifles, and 50 handguns.
