Complex Hamas Tunnel Network Uncovered and Destroyed in Khan Yunis
By Yoni Weiss
IDF’s 98th Division uncovered and raided Hamas tunnel beneath Bani Suheila cemetery in Khan Yunis on Monday, the IDF said.
The tunnel, equipped with explosives, sliding and blast-proof doors, was actively used by terrorists during the raid.
IDF forces neutralized terrorists inside, revealing the tunnel’s multifaceted functions, including an office for a Khan Younis Brigade battalion commander who orchestrated an attack on Oct. 7, an operations room, a command and control center, and living quarters for senior Hamas officials. The approximately one-kilometer-long, 20-meter-deep tunnel served as a critical part of Hamas’ infrastructure for coordinating attacks against IDF forces.
Following the investigation, the Yahalom special engineering unit of the IDF demolished the tunnel, exposing the extensive underground network employed by Hamas for its operations.
