YERUSHALAYIM – Israeli F-35 stealth fighter jets flew into Iranian airspace in recent exercises, according to a Saudi-run news outlet in a report on Wednesday.

The unconfirmed report on the London-based Elaph said the jets successfully evaded Russian and Iranian radar, and that drones and mid-air refueling tankers also participated in the “massive” drills.

Israel and the U.S. also carried out secret joint operation over the Red Sea simulating a strike on Iran that included the seizing of Iranian warships, the report said.

According to the outlet, the coordination between U.S. and Israeli forces appears to indicate America’s willingness to actively support Israel in a military confrontation with Tehran under certain circumstances.

There were similar reports of Israeli military activity aimed at Iran in January and May. At the beginning of last year, IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi announced that he had instructed the military to begin drawing up fresh attack plans against Iran. By September, Kohavi said the army had “greatly accelerated” preparations to target its nuclear program.
