1,496 Israelis Test Positive as Contagion Rate Continues to Drop

The Health Ministry said Thursday morning that on Wednesday 1,496 people tested positive for coronavirus after 78,854 tests had been conducted, putting the contagion rate in further decline at 1.8%.

As of Thursday, 579 people were hospitalized in serious condition, including 196 who are on respirators.

The basic reproduction number (R) also continues to decline and now stands at 0.68, meaning that on average, each carrier has infected less than one person.

A total of 6,062 Israelis have died from the pandemic.

5,158,059 Israelis have received the first COVID-19 vaccine dose, and 4,421,370 have already received both doses.
