While last-minute efforts continued on Tuesday to reach an agreement on a unity government, Amir Peretz, head of the Labor-Gesher party repeated his position that he will not sit in a government under Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, The Times of Israel reported.
“We promised Israeli citizens change and hope and therefore we won’t sit in any government [in which] Netanyahu stays,” Peretz tweeted.
Labor-Gesher has been holding coalition talks with Blue and White, and reported “significant progress” on key issues in a potential government.
However, even if Peretz would remain outside a Netanyahu-Gantz coalition, its six MKs are not enough to prevent a majority government from being formed.
