AIPAC Convention to Host Israeli Candidates

Two weeks before the Israeli elections, AIPAC will be hosting Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Blue and White leader Benny Gantz, New Right co-chairman Naftali Bennett, Stav Shaffir and Merav Michaeli of Labor.

They will each speak separately, not in a debate format. Bennett is scheduled to speak at the AIPAC Policy Conference on Sunday, March 24. PM Netanyahu on the 26th. Netanyahu and Gantz will be given the main stage in a plenary session. Bennett, Shaffir and Michaeli will be on a different stage.

Labor leader Avi Gabbay had accepted an invitation, but on Tuesday The Jerusalem Post reported that he is sending MKs Stav Shaffir and Merav Michaeli instead, saying it was too close to the election for him to make the trip.

Even if Gantz gets VIP treatment comparable to Netanyahu at AIPAC, it’s unlikely that anyone besides the prime minister will be invited to the White House to meet with President Donald Trump. There is talk of a “state-like” dinner in PM Netanyahu’s honor, as well.
