Haifa Hospital Celebrates Rare Quadruplet Birth

YERUSHALAYIM -

Israel was celebrating a rare set of quadruplets this week, after a Haifa woman gave birth to four babies – three girls and a boy – over the weekend at Rambam Hospital. The mother and children were all in good condition, the hospital said.

All four are currently in the hospital’s intensive care unit, and are being fed with vitamins and other nutrients to encourage growth. The infants weigh between 550 and 900 grams (1.21 – 1.98 pounds).

According to Professor Shraga Blazer, head of the hospital’s neonatal care unit, the chances of such a birth are 1 in 720,000.
