B-G Gets Vending Machines

Ben-Gurion International Airport has installed vending machines with low-cost drinks and sandwiches as an alternative to the 27 restaurants and cafes operating in its terminals. The exorbitant prices got public exposure recently after Deputy Finance Minister Mickey Levy had to pay 12 shekels ($3.50) at Eilat Airport for a small soda. At Ben-Gurion a cup of coffee can be as much as 18 shekels. The vendors blame their high prices on operating costs, including unregulated rental fees.
