MK Eichler Demands Arrest of Arabs Who Attacked Yeshivah Students
MK Rabbi Yisrael Eichler (UTJ) has placed an urgent request with Minister of Internal Security Yitzchak Aharonovitch to prosecute Arab youths who set upon two American yeshivah students returning from the Kosel in the vicinity of Damascus Gate.
During the incident late last week, a mob of some 50 Arabs pelted the boys with snowballs and rocks, while raining curses down on them. Since it was recorded on video, which should facilitate identifying the culprits, Rabbi Eichler demanded that the police arrest them without delay.
In an interview with Arutz Sheva on Monday, the two said that they feared for their lives.
“We went to daven at the Kosel, and on our way back we were suddenly attacked by dozens of Arabs,” they said. “The Arabs tried to lynch us, they were throwing snowballs and other objects and yelling ‘Death to the Jews’ in Arabic. We felt we were in real danger.” Police said they were investigating whether the incident was nationalistic in nature, or just a “prank,” a police spokesperson said.
