Iran: Nuke Deal Won’t Make Israel Safe
Apparently bent on making a mockery of western diplomatic claims that the nuclear deal will lead to peace, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollal Ali Khamenei has gone out of his way to once again threaten Israel.
A video released this week said that despite President Barack Obama’s pledge that the U.S. “‘will continue our unprecedented efforts to strengthen Israel’s security,’ Israel’s security will not be ensured whether there will be a nuclear agreement or not,” the Iranian leader asserted.
The message — which was explained by Iran observers as an attempt to assuage hardliners to go along with the nuclear deal — was accompanied by a montage of Iranian missiles being fired, presumably at Israeli targets.
Abbas Araqchi, an Iranian deputy foreign minister, also told a news conference that his country would do “anything” to help its allies in the Middle East, further underscoring Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s warnings that Iran will use post-sanctions billions to fund regional terrorism.
