Addressing subordinate officers on Thursday, Major General Aharon Haliva, head of the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate, cautioned that Israel is bracing for “complex days” ahead.

In remarks released by the IDF, Haliva emphasized the uncertainty surrounding the current situation, stating, “I have reiterated on several occasions that it is not guaranteed that the worst is behind us, and we must prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.”

Haliva’s remarks came during a meeting with commanders in the directorate’s Research Department, following the departure of Brigadier General Amit Saar, who stepped down after being diagnosed with cancer.

Stepping into the interim role is former department chief Brigadier General (res.) Itai Brun, who served from 2011 to 2015 and has remained in reserves since Oct. 7. Meanwhile, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi has appointed Colonel “Aleph” to succeed Saar permanently.

Colonel “Aleph,” whose full identity is protected, is slated to be promoted to the rank of brigadier general and assume his new responsibilities in the coming months. He brings with him extensive experience, having previously served as a senior commander in the directorate’s Unit 8200.
