Delta Air Lines has announced that it will recommence daily flights on the Tel Aviv-New York (JFK Airport) route from June 7. The company revealed that it will utilize an Airbus A330-900neo aircraft for the route, aiming to accommodate approximately 2,000 passengers weekly.

Delta Air Lines’ decision follows United Airlines’ return to Israel in March, which currently operates a daily flight to Newark Liberty International Airport. As the second largest U.S. airline after American Airlines, Delta’s re-entry into the market is expected to heighten competition on the New York route, potentially leading to a reduction in airfares that had surged since October 7.

Yoni Waxman, Chief Information Officer and Vice Chairman of Ophir Tours, commented on the anticipated price adjustments, noting that while Delta had previously announced its return to Israel for May 1 before postponing it to June, travelers should exercise caution in booking flights due to potential further delays and resultant higher costs.

Currently, flight prices for Delta between June 13 and 25 start at $1,004, compared to El Al’s starting price of $1,348 and United Airlines’ $2,025 for the same dates. Other alternatives via European cities such as London or Madrid also offer varying price points.

In a previous development, Delta had entered into a codeshare agreement with El Al in December, expanding travel options for passengers between North America and Israel.
