By Hamodia Staff

NYS Attorney General Letitia James met in Rockland County with the heads of local police, Jewish electeds and community leaders to discuss the recent uptick in antisemitic incidents which have plagued the Jewish community around the state.

Rockland County legislator Aaron Weider arranged for the Attorney General and her staff to come together at Rockland Community College and discuss the current issue of antisemitism with approximately 50 community leaders.

Accompanying the AG were the regional directors of the Rockland and Westchester County offices as well as the heads of the Hate Crimes Unit of the AG’s office. Representing the local law enforcement were Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco III, Rockland County DA Tom Walsh, along with representatives of the Ramapo Police and the Spring Valley Police.

Elected officials from the Jewish community, including Mayor Izzy Spitzer of New Square and Mayor Allie Pinkasovits of Kaser, discussed their concerns with DA James and were satisfied for the listening ear she gave to the various issues they presented.

“We all appreciate the focus that DA James gave to our concerns,” Mr. Weider told Hamodia. “She heard us out about the local issues and ensured us that her office would be there for the community. Her presence here alone creates a deterrent for any antisemitic incidents.”
