Rare 16th Century Sefer Torah Unveiled at Riyadh International Book Fair
A unique sefer Torah made a captivating appearance at the recent international book fair in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, capturing the interest of tens of thousands of attendees.
This complete sefer Torah, albeit lacking its atzei chaim,is believed to date back to the 16th century, making it approximately 400 years old.
The sefer Torah was prominently displayed among 27 other exceptional handwritten documents showcased at a dedicated booth. These valuable documents are part of an extensive collection housed in libraries named after prominent figures, including King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud, the King Salman Library at the university bearing the same name, and the national library named after King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The book fair itself saw the participation of 1,800 publishing companies, occupying 800 different booths, with an estimated one million visitors expected to attend.
