In Interview, Netanyahu Says He Will Limit Judicial Reform to Selection Committee for Judges

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was interviewed Bloomberg News and pledged that he would not continue the judicial reform legislation as was originally planned by his government. He declared that the coalition would work only to change the makeup of the committee for the selection of judges. “Basically what’s left − because other things I don’t think we need to legislate,” Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu referred to the failure of the negotiations with the opposition, for which he stopped the legislation of the reform for three months during.
“We passed a small part of the reform and I committed to giving it several months in order to reach a consensus, apparently on the composition of the committee for appointing judges,” he said.
