Sign Forbidding Entry to Har HaBayis Replaced

Recently, the traditional signage where one ascends to Har HaBayis, warning Jews against going up to the mountain, was removed by an unknown source. 

On Wednesday morning, in accordance with the request made by the Rishon LeTzion Harav Yitzchak Yosef to the Rav of the Kosel, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the sign was returned to its place. It again warns the public, in the name of the Chief Rabbinate, regarding the serious issur for all Jews ascending to Har HaBayis. 

The phrasing of the sign that has been positioned there for many years was determined decades ago, when the Kosel was liberated in 1967, by leading Rabbanim and Gedolim, led by the Rishon LeTzion, Harav Yitzchak Nissim; Harav Isser Yehudah Unterman; and Harav Yechezkel Abramsky, joined by Harav Ovadia Yosef; Harav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach; Harav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, zt”l, and others. 

The sign reads:

According to Torah law, entering the Temple Mount area is forbidden due to the holiness of the site.
