Israeli Forces Thwart Terrorism in Judea and Samaria, on Gaza Border

YERUSHALAYIM

Israeli forces confronted Arab terror elements in Yehudah and Shomron and on the border with the Gaza Strip over the weekend.

The IDF, Shin Bet and Special Forces operated as part of Operation Wave Breaker in the villages of Beita and Awarta, in the Shomron, to arrest two wanted persons suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.

In Chevron, the forces located and confiscated an illegal M-16 weapon and other weapons.

In addition, an IDF drone crashed due to a technical malfunction near the Palestinian Authority city of Kalkilya. There is no fear of information leakage, the IDF said. The event is under review.

Also on Motzoei Shabbos, IDF forces identified suspects who approached the perimeter fence near the village of Baka al-Sharkiyeh in the Shomron. At the same time, the forces identified a suspicious vehicle approaching the fence from the Israeli side.

Following the suspicious conduct, the forces commenced with an arrest procedure.

According to the findings of the initial investigation, one of the troops shot at the vehicle, which attempted to flee the scene after shots were fired in the air. One of the occupants of the vehicle was injured as a result of the shooting, and independently sought medical treatment.

The circumstances of the case are under investigation by the IDF, and the Military Police are involved.

There were no Israeli casualties in any of the incidents, baruch Hashem.
