Meron project manager Tzviki Tessler on Tuesday released the outline for this year’s Lag BaOmer celebrations in Meron, an event that will be celebrated in the shadow of last year’s tragedy in which 45 people lost their lives.

Entry to Meron will only be permitted by purchasing travel tickets in advance, which will also serve as an entry permit to the site. Even those who come to Meron in their personal cars, and not with public transportation, will be required to buy a ticket for the final stretch between the parking lot and the site.

Arrival at the Meron site itself will be limited to buses and designated shuttles, which will allow the police to know at any given moment how many people are at the site. Additionally, even those who purchase tickets will be allowed at the site for only a limited period of time, in accordance with the specific ticket purchased. The area will have a maximum of 20,000 attendees at once, and the permit will be for approximately four hours, in order to give others a chance to daven at the kever.

No stalls, kiosks or food distribution will be allowed at the site itself on Lag BaOmer. Food distribution will only be permitted at the entrance to Meron, next to the bus parking lots. Additionally, no tents will be allowed to be set up around the tziyun.

There will be only one hadlakah over the course of Lag BaOmer, which will be lit by the Boyaner Rebbe, shlita, on the night of Lag BaOmer, in keeping with the Ruzhiner tradition.

At the end of Lag BaOmer, a memorial ceremony and siyum Mishnayos is scheduled to be held l’iluy nishmas the 45 people who tragically lost their lives last year, for family members.

A hotline to register for a permit will be set up in the coming days, at (972) 3-509-8000. A website will also be set up.
