A new initiative seeks to allow those who have either recovered from the coronavirus or received two doses of the vaccine to travel this coming Lag BaOmer to mark the yahrtzeit of Tanna Rabi Shimon Bar Yochai in Meron.

Last year, as is recalled, the regular hundreds of thousands were unable to ascend to the tziyun of Rashbi in Meron, due to the coronavirus restrictions and the decision to close the compound to the large crowds, except for a small number of participants headed by the Boyaner Rebbe, shlita.

According to a report in Yisrael Hayom, the chareidi branch of the Health Ministry is proposing that only those vaccinated or recovered should be allowed to travel to Meron on Lag BaOmer.

The goal is to allow the masses to ascend on this special day to mark the hilula of Rashbi, without the chance of mass infection, chalilah, and at the same time encouraging the masses to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
