A woman from the center of the country will receive compensation of NIS 75,000 from the Mamilla Mall in Yerushalayim – after she walked into glass wall that she said was not marked. She was injured by the collision, and in lieu of a lawsuit she was set to bring, the mall settled with her.

The woman, in her 60s, was on vacation in Yerushalayim with family members, when they went to the Mamilla Mall, located right outside the Old City, for lunch. As they exited the restaurant, she said, she walked into the wall, which was unmarked – and apparently very clean, as there were no streaks on it that would indicate that a wall was there, she said.

According to the woman, she hit her head on the wall, and since then has not been the same. The collision caused her injuries to her lips and forehead, and since the incident she has experienced ongoing headaches and pains in her neck. Her attorneys threatened to sue the mall, which decided to settle, they said.

According to Attorney Eyal Feifer, “the victim is an elderly woman, and in general the courts assign very small settlements in cases like this. However, in this case the court indicated that if the case had been heard it would have strongly factored in the fact that she sustained head injuries in the incident, and as a result the mall offered to settle for NIS 75,000. This is a sufficient sum that will ensure that other business owners observe safety rules and respect the customers that enter their space.”
