Cypriot President to Meet Netanyahu on Turkey Gas Option

YERUSHALAYIM – President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades plans to arrive in Israel on Sunday for a brief visit to discuss bilateral relations with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, in light of the reconciliation agreement Israel has signed with Turkey.
The intent is to prevent a diplomatic crisis concerning Cyprus’s declaration this week that it will oppose the laying of a gas pipeline from Israel to Europe and to Turkey through Cypriot territorial waters.
Netanyahu’s office emphasized on Thursday night that there was no dispute or crisis with Nikosia, and that the meeting was aimed at averting conflict in the future.
