Israel Responds to Mortar Launched From Syria, Strikes Gaza
The Israeli military fired into Syria after a mortar shell struck the Golan Heights.
The IDF says the mortar shell landed near army positions but caused no damage or injuries. It responded with artillery strikes at the source of the Syrian fire early Monday, The Associated Press reported.
The Israel Air Force also struck two terror targets in the Gaza Strip overnight Monday after Palestinian rockets were fired at southern Israel hours earlier. Red alert sirens sounded but the projectiles landed in open areas and no injuries were reported.
The IDF said it bombed two targets, in north and south Gaza, and identified accurate strikes.
It was the first instance of a Palestinian attack and Israeli retaliation in a month.
