Knesset Committee to Meet on Transportation Debacle at Meron
The Knesset Interior Committee will convene next week to hear testimony from all the responsible parties in the organizational collapse at Meron on Lag BaOmer which resulted in thousands of people suffering hours-long delays and many being stranded with no transportation to get home.
MK Rabbi Menachem Eliezer Moses (UTJ) secured the agreement of Committee Chairman Miri Regev to hold the special session in order to determine the cause of the chaos and make recommendations for the future.
Rabbi Moses himself spent Shabbos at Meron and as the situation spun out of control and complaints were pouring in, he was on the phone with bus companies to press them to provide transportation urgently, or the following day would be a repeat of the night. In the end, Egged sent more buses northward to relieve the shortage and by Monday afternoon the situation was reportedly returning to normal.
