A 25-year-old man was killed on Wednesday morning as Hezbollah unleashed a barrage of rockets at Kiryat Shemona in response to a deadly Israeli airstrike in Lebanon earlier in the day.

According to the IDF, around 30 rockets were fired at Kiryat Shemona during the attack. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching numerous projectiles at both the city and a nearby army base.

While some rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system, at least three struck the city, resulting in damage and casualties, authorities reported.

One of the rockets directly hit an industrial building, causing a fire. The Fire and Rescue Services worked to extinguish the flames and managed to rescue a man from the rubble. Sadly, the 25-year-old victim, identified as Zahar Bashara from the Druze village of Ein Qiniyye, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics from Magen David Adom.

Another individual in his 30s, who was unharmed, was also rescued from the damaged building.

In addition to the industrial building, a residential home in Kiryat Shemona was hit directly by a rocket, and a car was damaged in another rocket strike in the city.

The terror group asserted that the assault was in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike overnight in southern Lebanon’s Habbariyeh region, approximately five kilometers from the Israeli border, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of seven individuals.

The IDF stated that the airstrike targeted a “military building” in Habbariyeh, resulting in the elimination of a “significant terrorist” associated with the al-Jama’a al-Islamiyya group, along with several other operatives present in the building. According to the IDF, the target had been involved in planning advanced attacks against Israeli territory.
