Fatal Accident at Yad Mordechai Junction After Tefillos at Baba Sali’s Kever: 18-Year-Old Bachur Killed

A serious accident occurred early Sunday morning at the Yad Mordechai junction.

A group returning from tefillos at the kever of the Baba Sali, zt”l, in Netivot – on the occasion of his 40th yahrtzeit – was involved in a serious accident between two vehicles on their way back.

Firefighting teams from the Ashkelon fire station arrived at the scene and immediately began rescue operations using specialized equipment. After a few minutes, the firefighting teams extricated a trapped individual from the rear part of one of the vehicles.

Medical personnel unfortunately determined his death. Five others at the scene suffered injuries.

The fatality was later identified as habachur Nahorai Vakinin, z”l. He was a student at the Divrei Chaim yeshivah in Bnei Brak and a resident of Migdal HaEmek. He was only 18 years old. He was the son of, yblch”t, Reb Moshe, and and his mother Mrs. Bracha.

As a young bachur, he learned at the Torat Meir yeshivah in Teveria, and later at the Divrei Chaim yeshivah in Bnei Brak.

On Motzoei Shabbos, he traveled in an organized transport with his friends to daven at the kever of the Baba Sali in Netivot. They received a ride back to Bnei Brak, and on the way, the severe accident occurred.

The levayah was held Sunday afternoon in Migdal HaEmek.

The injured were evacuated to Ashkelon’s Barzilai Hospital, including a severely injured 18-year-old with a head injury, three men, aged 60 and 30, and a 16-year-old in moderate condition, with injuries to their bodies.
