IDF Strikes Syrian Army Infrastructure in Response to Rocket Fire

In a rare statement, the IDF confirmed Wednesday that it had targeted Syrian army infrastructure overnight, including mortar launchers, in response to rocket fire originating from Syria and aimed at Israel earlier in the evening. Syrian media reported that the strikes had hit the Daara region in southern Syria, targeting a radar site near Qarfa and warehouses of the 12th Armored Brigade in Izraa. The Syrian army announced that 11 of its soldiers were killed in these strikes.

Sirens had sounded in the towns of Neot Golan, Bnei Yehuda, and Givat Yoav to the east of Lake Kinneret on Tuesday evening, following reports of two rockets launched from Syria toward Israel. The IDF had confirmed that Israeli artillery forces struck the source of the rocket fire on the Golan Heights.
