Meretz’s Hate-Fueled Campaign Targets Chareidi Community in Municipal Elections

YERUSHALAYIM

Far left-wing party, Meretz, has ignited controversy with its latest campaign that fuels hatred towards the chareidi sector, timed strategically ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. The city of Kfar Saba was left stunned as provocative and antisemitic signs emerged across the city, adorning bus stations and billboards, specifically targeting the chareidi community.

These signs prominently featured the images of the leaders from three religious chareidi parties: Minister Rabbi Yitzchak Goldknopf of United Torah Judaism, Rabbi Aryeh Deri of Shas, and MK Avi Ma’oz of Noam. Accompanying these images was a large antisemitic message declaring, “No Entry to Kfar Saba.” A further antisemitic caption added beneath the advertisement proclaimed, “Meretz will keep Kfar Saba liberal.”

The backlash on social media was swift and forceful, with condemnation coming not only from the right-wing but also from within the left-wing camp. Many left-wing activists denounced the despicable incitement of the Meretz Party, reminding them of their failure to surpass the electoral threshold in the previous Knesset elections. They urged an end to the incitement targeting the chareidi community, stating, “If you forgot, you saw the electoral threshold from below, partly due to such actions. Enough with inciting against the chareidim.”

Alon Lee-Green, a prominent left-wing activist, expressed his outrage on social media, saying, “Once again, Meretz launches a campaign with a strong antisemitic undertone solely based on hatred towards the chareidi community. This hatred, if directed towards Arabs instead of the chareidim, would be recognized as racist and illegitimate. While I strongly disagree with right-wing politicians who are chareidi or religious, Meretz’s racism is no different from theirs.”
