In a letter sent to the heads of the coalition factions, Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir called for the dismissal of the government legal advisor Gali Bahrab-Mihra due to her conduct “as the de facto head of the opposition”.

In his letter, Ben Gvir wrote that the ombudsman has rejected every law and decision of the government and the ministers of the right, without even bothering to talk to the ministers before rejecting their decisions. He further emphasized that her activities are completely opposite to her conduct during previous government when she qualified every action of the government, including very problematic measures.

“The advisor’s conduct harms not only the governance and powers of an elected government in a democratic country, but also the ministers’ ability to implement the policies for which they were elected,” he wrote.

“I am aware of the legal difficulty in dismissing her, but the damage that the adviser causes every day she remains in her position is unparalleled. Under these circumstances, it seems to me that it would be right to start the process of firing the legal adviser to the government and restore the public’s trust in this institution.”
