YERUSHALAYIM — The recently-established Lions’ Den terrorist group has been gaining recruits, despite a campaign against them waged by the IDF, The Jerusalem Post reported on Wednesday, citing Palestinian sources.

The group claims several dozen members, mostly from the area around Shechem, where it is based.

Lions’ Den took responsibility for three separate shooting attacks on IDF soldiers and installations in the Shechem area over the past 48 hours, adding to previous attacks.

Several members of the group reportedly turned themselves into the Palestinian security forces, seeking protection from IDF counter-terror raids in which several of their members were killed in recent weeks.

A senior Palestinian Authority official denied that some of the gunmen who surrendered to them have been released.

“They are still staying with us,” the official told the Post, referring to the gunmen. “They’re not allowed to leave the [security] installations.”
