NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) —

Officials say a Navy helicopter has crashed in Virginia’s James River and three crew members have been rescued uninjured.

Naval Air Force Atlantic spokesman Mike Maus said the MH-60S helicopter crashed Tuesday morning during a training mission. Maus said the three crew members on board were not injured but are being taken to the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center for observation.

Maus said the crewmembers were rescued by a Newport News Police boat. Photos from the scene show the crewmembers walking on their own after making it back to land.

Maus said an investigation will be done to determine the cause of the crash. He said he could not release the names of the crewmembers on board.
