Arrests Made in Shvut Rachel Ambushing Case

YERUSHALAYIM (Hamodia Staff) —

The suspected perpetrators of a terrorist ambush on a road near Shvut Rachel on June 28 were arrested by security forces, according to media reports.

The Shin Bet domestic intelligence agency, along with the IDF and Israel Police, said they had apprehended members of a Hamas cell for the murder of Malachi Rosenfeld, Hy”d, a 25-year-old resident of Kochav Haschar. They included a Hamas member set free in the 2011 Shalit swap.

The cell was also reportedly responsible for a shooting attack on an Israeli ambulance and other Israeli vehicles near Beitin on June 27. There were no injuries in that attack.

The Shin Bet said Hamas members confessed to that shooting, as well as additional attacks in June.

Ahmed Najar, a former security prisoner released from prison in the 2011 Shalit prisoner swap with Hamas, was among those arrested.

After his release, he reportedly returned to terrorist activity, moving to Jordan, where he “systematically worked to set in motion terrorist attacks on the ground.”
