Sanitation officials issued a snow alert for Monday morning, as an incoming wintry blast of snow, freezing rain and sleet blankets New York City into rush hour.
Forecasters say the wintry mix could transition to rain by the afternoon. Sanitation officials are preparing salt spreaders, attaching snow plows and hooking up tire chains to be ready for the storm.
