Section of Park Avenue Designated Historic District

NEW YORK

New York City’s Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday approved parts of Park Avenue in Upper Manhattan as a new historic district, the Wall Street Journal reported. The area, from 79th Street to 91st Street along the wide residential boulevard, consists of stately rows of apartment buildings 12 to 17 stories high constructed in the 1910s and 1920s. The designation protects it from demolition.
