Gaza Mortar Lands In Southern Community
A mortar rocket launched from the Gaza Strip landed in a community in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council on Wednesday night, where alarmed local residents reported hearing a thunderous explosion.
The rocket landed near a swimming pool and caused damage to the surroundings. No injuries were reported.
No alert siren was sounded and people were caught by surprise.
People were cautioned by authorities to remain indoors and not to approach the site of the explosion, but after an hour life returned to normal.
“This is a scary event, despite the quiet of recent days,” a local resident told Ynet. “It caught all of us off guard because, usually, there is some kind of an alert. Thank G-d, this time it fell far away from residential areas where kids are running around.”
Wednesday’s incident came after three rockets were launched from Gaza at the same region two days before, without injuries or damage.
