Explosion Victim Fighting for Her Life
Linda Schwartz, who is in her 40s, was still fighting for her life on Wednesday at the Intensive Care Unit of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, following the gas explosion that demolished her parents’ apartment in Gilo on Sunday night.
The explosion killed three members of a family that
lived next door to the Schwartzes: Avraham Tufan, z”l, 56, his wife Galit, z”l, 42, and their baby son, Yosef-Haim z”l, age 2.
Schwartz’s condition has seen no improvement since she was brought to the ICU. Prof.
Avi Rivkind, who heads the Emergency and Trauma Ward at the hospital, told reporters on Tuesday, “I regret to say that there has been no change in the injured victim’s condition and it is still serious — she is still in mortal danger.”
Her parents, Max and Maya Schwartz, aged 88 and 86, suffered burns, mostly on their upper body, but were not in danger. They are staying at a senior citizens’ home in Maalei Adumim while their apartment is renovated.
