Report: Unfit Teachers’ Salaries Cost NYC $29m
New York City pays $29 million a year to more than 300 teachers who have been deemed too dangerous or incompetent to work in public schools, records show. Officials can’t terminate them because of a laborious firing process.
The issue gained publicity when a teacher who has been reassigned for more than 17 months ran a live video stream of himself reading the paper in an empty room.
