Arrest in Case of N.Y. Trash Collector Hit-and-Run Death

KIRYAS JOEL, N.Y. (AP) —

State police say a Hudson Valley woman has been charged with leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident that left a trash collector dead last year.

Blanca Romano-Morales, 26, of Highland Mills was arrested Wednesday after an investigation into the death of Anastacio Vasquez of Spring Valley. Vasquez was working for the village of Kiryas Joel’s sanitation department and crossing a street when he was run down on Dec. 11.

Romano-Morales is being held in the Orange County Jail on a felony charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
